Star Wars isn't so resonant because of its pulling from Joseph Campbell's monomyth. It's because it also pulls from political and social history as well - and not just the history of the United States, though that certainly plays a part. And when you take a closer look at the ideas and values Lucas wove into the good-guy side of the space opera, it's kind of surprising to hear people complaining about Kathleen Kennedy and Rian Johnson for following and building upon the same ideas Lucas espoused for decades...
